The first business to be awarded the Bid4Oban Golden Broom is the George Street Fish and Chip shop. The Golden Broom is to recognise businesses go beyond the normal to keep the area in front and around their premises in good order.
John Stewart, owner of the George Street Fish Restaurant ‘A business we know that first impressions count that impression starts outside the restaurant. For this reason we always ensure that our frontage and the street in front are kept clean, this creates that vital first impression. This is so important, particularly in a tourist town where there are lots of first time customers. That external image is the first encounter they have with your business. We are pleased to be the first recipients of the Golden Broom, and welcome this initiative by BID4Oban to encourage and recognise the efforts of businesses making that extra effort’ Derek Connery, BID4Oban ‘I have had numerous comments of the efforts that John, Lorraine and their staff make in keeping the area around their business clean and tidy. In my opinion they not only improve the outward appearance of their own premises, but contribute to the overall cleanliness of the town. There are other businesses that make similar efforts and they too will be recognised in the coming weeks. If this effort was to be replicated by everyone around the town the difference would be fantastic. If people have businesses that they would like to nominate please contact the office 01631 569915, or admin@bid4oban.co.uk.’
